Gold Prices in Pakistan Drop Amid Global Market Weakness

Gold prices in Pakistan declined on Tuesday, mirroring a broader downtrend in the international bullion market. The latest rates, shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), highlight a sharp drop of Rs1,000 per tola, bringing the price down to Rs361,300.

The 10-gram gold rate also dipped by Rs857, settling at Rs309,756.

This downward movement comes a day after prices already fell by Rs700, signaling growing pressure on gold amid global cues.

Global Gold Prices Also Decline

In the international market, the price of gold dropped to $3,398 per ounce, reflecting a $16 decrease. According to APGJSA, this price includes a premium of $20 per ounce.

The correction is attributed to:

  • A strengthening U.S. dollar

  • Stabilizing global inflation expectations

  • Profit-taking by investors after gold’s recent highs

These international pressures have influenced domestic gold trends, especially in markets like Pakistan where gold acts as a hedge against inflation and currency volatility.

Silver Prices Rise Despite Gold Dip

Interestingly, while gold prices eased, silver gained value. The price of silver per tola rose by Rs69, reaching Rs3,856.

Silver’s divergent performance can be attributed to:

  • Rising industrial demand

  • Market expectations of broader usage in green energy applications

  • Relative undervaluation compared to gold

Key Takeaways for Investors

  • Volatility Ahead: Both local and international bullion markets are currently volatile. Traders and long-term investors should monitor global interest rate trends, inflation figures, and geopolitical developments.

  • Safe Haven Demand May Return: If uncertainty in currency markets or global tensions re-emerge, gold could regain strength quickly.

  • Silver’s Growing Role: With its dual role as an investment asset and industrial metal, silver continues to be an attractive diversification option.
